Nick Lines is passionate about characters. As Creative Director at The Mill LA and Alt.vfx LA, Nick was fortunate to collaborate with leading creative agencies such as Deutsche, TWA/Chiat/Day and Leo Burnett to breathe life into some of the worlds most beloved characters, including Mario, Kirby and his personal favourite Pikman in Nintendo’s ‘Battle Call’. Combining his two great loves, Character Animation and Filmmaking, he imbues each film with a sense of fun while staying true to the brand.
As VFX Supervisor for Animal Logic, Alt.vfx LA and The Mill LA he worked closely with master storytellers, like Alejandro Inarritu, to create beautiful award-winning commercials. This experience has informed his directing career and led him to pursue stories that are character driven and resonate with the audience.
Nick’s darker side comes out in his short films for which he has earned multiple accolades. 'It's a Wonderful Knife' premiered at the Chinese Theater, Hollywood for the HollyShorts Film Festival in 2015. 'SHRIEK' won the SHRIEKFEST FILM FESTIVAL Promo Competition 2015 and received an honorable mention by Eli Roth in the CryptTV 15-Second-Scare project; clocking more than 1M views.
When not in the directing chair, Nick can be found nerding out in Virtual Reality or at the beach with his wife, two kids, and french bulldog.
